Huchuy Qosqo located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, in the province of Calca is another of the mysterious constructions that the Incas abandoned, whose function has not yet been determined.
Huchuy Qosqo comes from Quechua whose denominations are: “small Cusco” or “qaqyaqawana”, which means “place where lightning is seen”. It was a military and administrative center during the Inca era.
It is believed that this structure was created by order of the Inca Wiracocha as a refuge for relaxation and recreation in his last years.
Here you can see the topographical evolution in the use of platforms on the banks of streams and platforms that served as ceremonial centers built in stone and adobe, materials with which they achieved beautiful finishes.

We will pick you up from your Cusco hotel in our private transportation and transport you to Tambomachay, the starting point of the trek. The tour will take you through puna landscapes.
We will arrive at the Sicllaccasa pass, which is located at 4100 meters above sea level and offers spectacular views of the Inca capital, a beautiful landscape of mountains and farmland.
After contemplating the views, we will continue climbing the mountain. We will cross a small stream and continue until we reach Lake Qoricocha, where we will have lunch.
The landscape is arid since the area is high puna and is covered by a resistant grass called ichu. You will be able to observe a variety of Andean birds such as geese, partridges, among others.
We will continue our trips to the town of Patabamba where we will spend the night. We will walk around Lake Qoricocha and we will walk for two hours. When we arrive at the town, the locals will welcome us happily.
After settling in we will have a cup of coca tea ideal for the cold. We will visit a local family where they will explain to us about their daily life and their living culture.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast we will continue the walk along a path that will take us to a viewpoint. This site offers impressive views of the Urubamba mountain range and the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
We will walk downhill until we reach the community of Pumamarca. Here we will stop for lunch. Then we will continue walking along a path that will take us to the Huchuy Qosqo Complex.
Together with our guide, you will tour the entire site, giving you more details about the history of this site and the role it played in the Inca civilization.
After the tour we will continue our walk to the highest point, the Tauca Pass located at 4400 meters above sea level. We will go down the hill until we reach our camp for lunch.
After lunch you will board our private transport to take you to the train station in Ollantaytambo. Here you will board the tourist train to the town of Aguas Calientes.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes we will accommodate you in a hotel. Later we will meet for dinner and receive an indication of the next day.
Early in the morning the hotel staff will give you a box of snacks. Then we will take you to the bus terminal where you will board the bus that will take you to the citadel of Machu Picchu.
Upon reaching the entrance of the citadel, you will go through a control. Here they will verify your passport, so we recommend you bring your original passport.
After passing the control with our guide, you will tour the entire citadel and obtain more information about the culture and history of the Inca civilization.
Following the tour with our guide, you will have the opportunity to explore the citadel on your own; we recommend going to the sun gate, which provides a wonderful perspective of this global wonder.
Our guide will lead you to the entrance if you have booked a hike to Machu Picchu or Huayna Picchu Mountain.
After visiting this wonder, you will board the bus back to the town of Aguas Calientes. Here you will have free time so you can have lunch or get to know the town.
Finally you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo town where our driver awaits you to take you back to Cusco to your accommodation.
